My specialty and my love is painting animals. It is such a privilege to be entrusted a commission of a beloved pet, and a real responsibility to try and capture the essence and character of the individual and the breed (or mix). What a feeling though when you hand the finished artwork to the owner and you can see that it was all worth while, and yes you did it! If not a commission for a pet portrait then I will try and find another challenge in animal form. I find there is something pure and elevated in all animals that bears trying to capture which is more elusive than in the human form. If you have an animal of your own you will understand when I say that just looking at the back of your dog's head will often tell you exactly what is going on in that brain, especially if they just found a special mission!
